On to our 16th season … but not without thanking the most important people of all - our CUSTOMERS! To our family, the friends we’ve made, the friends we’ve lost, locals and visitors - a huge bear hug to all of you who have supported our business throughout the years. We are so very thankful for your patronage.
Music is an integral part of Golden Bear. We enjoy sharing our love for the arts with our community and customers. The Bear has always been a place where everyone can gather, socialize, sing, dance and appreciate our idyllic surroundings. We support musicians … upcoming talent, as well as seasoned artists, who have contributed to the Golden Bear experience. We thank them all for their amazing performances.
This weekend we celebrate our 15th anniversary … of course, with live music. Come and join us.
Golden Bear would not have succeeded for 15 years without its crew. We have been fortunate to have worked with a very diverse group of individuals … we trained, we taught, we learned from, we encouraged, we mentored, we loved and we lost. They are all part of our Bear family and we thank them immensely for their hard work, their loyalty, their trust and their friendship.
Of course, we has a few horrible experiences with staffing, but who hasn’t. It was educational and we moved on.
Now we look forward to meeting future employees and new members of the Bear team. Interested in joining us?
Opening day in Oct 2008 … such an exciting time. Finally starting the next learning curve. We knew how architecture and construction worked, but hospitality was a whole new course. We wouldn’t have succeeded without our community. Thank you for your support and encouragement, your praise and criticism … we have and will continue to strive to make your experience at Golden Bear even better.
As our 15th anniversary approaches, we look back at our journey to get here. From 2006 to 2008, we worked with so many builders, contractors and craftsmen to create the place we had dreamed of since our first trip to NZ in 1994. We thank all of them for the hard work, the headaches and the hassles, the expense, and for being there to share with our adventure. Our story continues …
Sometime in Dec 2005, we found a shed for rent in a little coastal town called Mapua. We decided this was the perfect site for our microbrewery. Construction of Golden Bear Brewing began on Feb 2006. 15 years ago, we opened our doors to the public on Labour weekend. This year, we celebrate that milestone on 22 Oct 2023. Join us on our anniversary … let the sun shine this weekend!
Due to popular demand, we have brought back BEAR FARE du JOUR for only two days in June. We will be serving the most popular of the Bear Fare menus - the Asado Argentina. Make sure you book early. Limited meals will be available for walk-ins.
